Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Owners Manual: Electrical controls on the front seats

Fig. 44 shows moving the front-left seat forwards and backwards and adjusting the backrest and cushion for height and tilt on the Volkswagen Golf Mk7, while Fig. 45 covers adjusting the lumbar support. The right seat mirrors this layout; this page describes each electric control and what it moves.

First read and observe the introductory information and safety warnings

The layout of the controls on the front right-hand seat is a mirror image of the layout of the controls on the front left-hand seat.

The seat may have a combination of mechanical and electrical controls.

Pressing the switch in the direction of the arrow  :
Slides the seat forwards or backwards.
Adjusts the angle of the seat cushion.
Raises or lowers the seat.
Adjusts the angle of the backrest.
Pressing the switch in the corresponding area  :
or Adjusts the curve of the lumbar support.
or Adjusts the height of the lumbar support.

Depending on the vehicle equipment level, it may be possible to assign the seat position to the vehicle key using the button and the and Seats function buttons in the infotainment system   .

WARNING

Failure to take due care and attention when using the electric front seats can cause severe injuries.
  • The electrical front seat adjustment also works when the ignition is switched off. Never leave children or people requiring assistance alone in the vehicle.
  • In the event of an emergency, stop the electrical adjustment by pressing another switch.

NOTICE

To avoid damaging the electrical components in the front seats, do not kneel on the seats or apply sharp pressure at a single point on the seat cushion and backrest.

It may not be possible to adjust the seat electrically if the battery charge level is too low.

Starting the engine will interrupt the seat adjustment procedure.

    What electrical seat adjustments are available on the Golf Mk7?
    Electric seats add switches for fore/aft, backrest angle, seat cushion height and tilt. Some versions also include electric lumbar support adjustment — a four-way switch that moves the lumbar pad in and out and up and down.
    How do I adjust the Golf Mk7 electric lumbar support?
    Use the four-way switch on the side of the seat to move the lumbar pad forwards, backwards, up or down until it supports the natural curve of your lower back.
    Does the Golf Mk7 have a seat memory function?
