Questions & answers
Removing and installing bonnet — Volkswagen Golf Mk7
How is the Golf Mk7 bonnet removed?
Remove the washer jets, disconnect the washer hose, detach any electrical connectors, mark the hinge position, unbolt the hinges and lift the bonnet off with an assistant.
Do I need to mark the Golf Mk7 bonnet hinge position before removal?
Yes. Marking the hinge bolts' position before removal ensures the bonnet can be refitted in alignment without full readjustment.
Can I remove the Golf Mk7 bonnet alone?
The manual implies two people are needed — the bonnet is heavy and unwieldy. One person holds it while the other removes the hinge bolts.
