Fig. 161 shows the CCS switch and buttons beside the steering column, and Fig. 162 shows the equivalent controls on the multifunction steering wheel of the Volkswagen Golf Mk7. This page lists every switch position and button press needed to set, adjust, pause and cancel the cruise control.

Changing gear in CCS mode
The CCS reduces acceleration as soon as the clutch is depressed, and automatically continues to regulate the speed after a gear change.
Driving downhill with CCS
If the CCS cannot maintain the vehicle speed when driving downhill, brake the vehicle with the foot brake and shift down gear if necessary.
Automatic switch-off
The CCS control will be switched off automatically or switched off temporarily:
- If the system detects a fault that could impair the function of the CCS.
- If the vehicle speed is higher than the stored speed for an extended period with the accelerator pedal depressed.
- If regulation related to the driving dynamics is taking place, e.g. by TCS and ESC.
- If the airbag is triggered.

How do I set the Golf Mk7 cruise control speed?
Accelerate to the desired speed, then press the SET button on the lever (left of the steering column) or the steering wheel. The current speed is stored and maintained.
How do I increase or decrease the Golf Mk7 cruise control speed?
Tap RES+ (up) on the lever or steering wheel to increase in small increments, or SET– (down) to decrease. Hold the button for faster continuous adjustment.
How do I cancel Golf Mk7 cruise control temporarily?
Press the brake pedal or press the OFF/CANCEL switch on the lever. The set speed is stored. Press RES to resume the stored speed.
How do I switch Golf Mk7 CCS off completely?
Press the OFF switch on the lever or turn the switch to the off position. The stored speed is erased and the system is fully deactivated.
Can I overtake while Golf Mk7 CCS is active?
Yes. Press the accelerator to go faster — CCS is overridden but not cancelled. When you release the accelerator, the car returns to the stored speed.
