Removing and installing bonnet lock

  Note
If the rear lid does not open, it can be opened in an emergency by reaching through the rear lid trim and actuating the emergency release by hand → Operating Manual.
–  Remove rear lid trim → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70.
–  Detach connector -3- from lid lock -1-.
–  Unscrew bolts -2- and remove rear lid lock -1- from rear lid.

 
Installing

–  Position rear lid lock -1- on rear lid and screw in bolts -2-.
–  Connect connector -3- to rear lid lock -1-.
Before closing rear lid, check function of lid release components.
Specified torques
  • Bolts → Chapter „Assembly overview - rear lid“

    Remove the interior trim panel, disconnect the electrical connector, unbolt the lock mechanism and remove it. If the rear lid will not open, it can be released in an emergency through the trim panel.
