Checking the engine oil level and refilling engine oil — Volkswagen Golf Mk7
How do I check the Golf Mk7 engine oil level?
Park on level ground, wait a few minutes after switching off, pull the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert fully, pull out again and read the level between the MIN and MAX marks.
How much oil does the Golf Mk7 hold between MIN and MAX?
Approximately 1 litre between the two marks. Never fill above MAX — overfilling can cause oil foaming and damage seals or the catalytic converter.
Where is the Golf Mk7 oil filler cap?
On top of the engine, marked with an oil can symbol. Unscrew it to add oil. Use a funnel to avoid spills on the engine.
What happens if I overfill the Golf Mk7 engine oil?
Excess oil can foam, lose its lubricating properties, damage seals, and contaminate the catalytic converter. If overfilled, have the excess drained at a workshop.
