Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Service & Repair Manual: Adjusting front axle toe

Using torque wrench -V.A.G 1332- and socket -V.A.G 1332/9-, this page covers adjusting Volkswagen Golf Mk7 front toe — counterhold the track rod ball joint with a suitable tool when loosening the lock nut.

–  Counterhold track rod ball joint -1- with a suitable tool when loosening and tightening lock nut -2-.
–  Loosen lock nut -2-.
–  Adjust toe setting at both wheels by turning hexagon flats -arrow-.
  Note
Ensure that bellows on steering rack are not damaged or twisted. Twisted boots wear out quickly.
Tighten lock nuts on threaded portion only when vehicle is standing on its wheels - track rod ball head must be parallel with steering lever of suspension strut.
–  Tighten lock nut -2- and check toe setting again.
The setting may change slightly after lock nut -2- is tightened .
However, if the measured toe value lies within the tolerance, the adjustment is correct → Chapter „Specified values for wheel alignment“.
