Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing side padding

Using torque wrench -V.A.G 1410-, this page covers removing the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 rear seat side padding — WARNING: observe general pyrotechnic safety regulations on vehicles fitted with a side airbag.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1410-
Removing
Vehicles with side airbag
  WARNING
Observe general safety regulations when working on airbag, belt tensioner and battery isolator units (pyrotechnic components) → Chapter.
–  Disconnect battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
 

Torque wrench -V.A.G 1410

Continued for all vehicles
–  Remove bench seat → Chapter.

Removing and installing side padding

–  Unscrew nut -1-.
–  Fold down rear seat backrest.
–  Detach retaining lug -3- from body.
–  Pull side padding with retaining brackets -2- and -4- upwards.
Vehicles with side airbag
–  Disconnect wire for side airbag on side padding.
 
Installing
Install in reverse order, but note the following:

–  Switch on ignition.
  WARNING
Ensure that nobody is in vehicle.
–  Connect vehicle battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
  Note
If airbag warning lamp -K75- indicates a fault following installation, event memory must be read, deleted and then read again → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
Specified torques
  → Chapter „Assembly overview - side padding“
